Living Under the Sea What’s it like to live under the sea? Over 50 years ago, a scientist named Jacques Cousteau tried to answer this question. He did three experiments. Jacques Cousteau TEXT 3 18 In the first experiment, two divers lived underwater for a week. In the second, five divers lived underwater for a month. During the day, they explored the sea. At night, they lived just like people on land. They ate dinner and watched TV or read. In the third experiment, six divers lived very deep underwater for three weeks. No one had ever lived so deep for so long before. Now, some scientists want to take living underwater even further. TEXT 3 World Without Sun Jacques Cousteau made a movie about his second experiment. It showed divers living and working underwater. The movie is called World Without Sun. the ruins of one of Cousteau’s underwater homes 19 2Our Small-Group Resources: So Much More Than Guided Reading!
